Winter edition, issue 003

It’s Sunday morning and mum and dad are packing up their things before we head over to see some family for a cup of coffee. Our two-year-old is sitting on the bed, playing with her books.
“So what’s the plan, are we heading over now?” I ask.
“Yes, I think they’re expecting us at nine” Mum, replies.
“But in the meantime, we can have breakfast” chirps a little voice from the bed.
Jaws drop. Someone starts to laugh, and before long we all fall about giggling at what just happened. Then, just as quick, we realise someone needs to respond to what a rather confused-looking H has just said, so we heartily agree and all bustle into the kitchen for breakfast.
To explain — this was the first time we’d ever heard our daughter use the phrase ‘in the meantime’ and it blew us away in that cheesy, proud parent sort of way. Out of the mouth of a two-year-old, a perfectly-executed, complex…
